Re: charley girl

Hi there, I've been watching your posts and my heart goes out to you. If it's any consolation our 7 year old was diagnosed on the 3rd June 2008, and had her last flare up on the 23rd May this year. Following a short sharp whack of prednisone we have not seen any purpura since then and for the first ...

Re: Frustration Sets In

Hi Teresa, I'm sorry to hear that Rachel's not so good right now. I'm not sure which hospital you are dealing with but I suppose we were lucky in that we saw our own consultant or his registrar within a short while every time we were admitted, so at least that continuity was there. If Dr. Atif said ...

Re: Frustration Sets In

Hi Teresa, Ailbhe's tummy pains seem to have resolved thank goodness, but following PE at school yesterday and a birthday party after school today she has a small amount of rash on her shins. We're not going to let it worry us or limit her activity as the rest of her body is behaving itself!! To ans...

Re: Frustration Sets In

Hi Teresa, Good luck going back to work, I went back in early December myself and it will make you feel a bit more normal as long as all is reasonably ok at home... Ailbhe has been off today and had to collect from school early yesterday due to crampy tummy pains and nausea. GP checked her over and ...

Re: Frustration Sets In

Hi Teresa, Yes Ailbhe has had kidney involvement since the end of June, approx 3 weeks after she was diagnosed. To be brief she spent most of September in hospital an a very high dose of prednisone which seems to have knocked them back into some sort of good behaviour. However she continues to have ...

Re: Frustration Sets In

Hi Teresa,

Good to hear Rachel is improving.. the nephrologist at Temple St Children's Hospital is Dr. Atif Awan, lovely man and really good with kids...obviously! Ailbhe was referred to him by our GP during the summer so your GP would need to contact him.

Hope all goes well,

Patricia.

Re: Frustration Sets In

Hello Laurie, I haven't posted for a while, but our daughter Ailbhe was diagnosed last June 4th with HSP. She had the full range of symptoms which culminated in frank haematuria following strep throat in September. During the period June to October she was hospitalised five times for a combined peri...

Re: Good results!!

We are all so happy for you!! You've all had more than your fair share of stress over these last months... I'm sure you are, like us, looking forward to drawing a line under 2008 and welcoming 2009 as a new beginning. Please God that's the end of it...

Best Wishes,

Patricia (Ailbhe's Mum)

Re: hsp experience

Hello Kristie, I think you hit the nail on the head when you say your symptoms are treated but not the disease. That's what I personally found so frustrating about the whole thing..it's almost as if they know what could happen, wait until it does happen, and then say "Oh yes, this happens in X%...
